Webinar: The New gTLD Program 2026 and the Future of the DNS Ecosystem

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)'s Technical Engagement Team is excited to announce a series of training sessions in collaboration with the Internet Service Providers and Connectivity Providers (ISPCP) Constituency and the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). These sessions are aimed at both technical and non-technical individuals and will focus on topics related to the Domain Name System (DNS). The sessions are intended for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) worldwide. They will be conducted online and in person at ICANN meetings in convenient time zones.

This session, The New gTLD Program 2026 and the Future of the DNS Ecosystem, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 2026, starting at 16:00 PM UTC.

This webinar provides an overview of the forthcoming New gTLD Program and examines key technical and policy challenges, including string collisions and the management of variant labels, both of which influence DNS security and stability.

This session will also explore the evolving role of blockchain domains and Web3 naming systems, assessing how they intersect with - and potentially reshape - the traditional DNS. Participants will gain a concise, forward-looking understanding of what to expect in the 2026 round and the broader future of the online naming ecosystem.
